The electronic shelf label system is a modern solution used in stores to automatically display prices and product information. Instead of traditional paper tags, it uses digital displays that can be updated remotely.
Key Components of the ESL System:
Electronic Shelf Labels – E-paper-based displays known for their high readability and minimal energy consumption. They are mounted on shelves, directly next to the products.
Wireless Connectivity – Labels communicate with the store’s central system through Base Stations, typically installed on the ceiling. A dedicated radio protocol is used to ensure stable and secure data transmission.
Integration with Store Management System – ESL is synchronized with store software, enabling instant price updates, promotion management, and dynamic pricing strategies. This eliminates errors from manual label changes and ensures price consistency between the shelf and the checkout.
The ESL system streamlines store management, boosts operational efficiency, and enables faster response to changing market conditions.
Electronic Label Base Station – A Key Component of the System
Base Stations play a central role in the communication of electronic labels, transmitting data and updates using 2.4 GHz radio technology. This allows them to support thousands of labels simultaneously, making them suitable for both small and large stores. Their range extends up to 15 meters.
Each Base Station is connected to the system’s central API Server via an Ethernet cable, and powered through a PoE adapter, eliminating the need for additional power cables.
Integration of the T4R System with Store Systems
Thanks to synchronization, the data on electronic shelf labels is updated in real time, reflecting changes in prices, promotions, and product availability.
Automatic updates eliminate errors related to manual data entry, ensuring consistency between shelf information and the checkout system. Integration also enables dynamic price management, allowing for quick adjustment of sales strategies to market conditions.
